IBP Regulatory Requirements Manual

Rio de Janeiro, October 20, 2016 - Forship Group prepared a manual providing  guidelines and recommendations for regulatory compliance of drilling and offshore support vessels.

Forship started in May a strategic project for the Brazilian Institute of Oil, Gas and Biofuels (IBP). This includes the preparation of Regulatory Requirements Manuals for Offshore Drilling Units (UMPS) and Offshore Support Vessels (PSV and AHTS).

Delivered in September, the manual comprises general guidelines and recommendations for compliance with related Brazilian laws, ordinances, resolutions, regulatory rules, Brazilian Standards and Instructions (NBRS), emphasizing good practice in conformity.

"The scope of this manual took into account all phases of the life cycle of a UMP, indicating the pathway to compliance with the legal requirements in the various areas involved: Environmental, Operational Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, and Security," explains Fabiano Lima, Forship's Technical Project Consulting manager.

Consulting adds value

Forship Group has implemented similar activities for several operators such as Petrobras, Statoil and Maersk; EPC experts like Odebrecht Óleo e Gás (OOG), Queiroz Galvão Óleo e Gás (QGOG), and also the Juron Aracruzg Shipyard. However, the contract with IBP posed new challenges. "Mainly because of its scope and the limited time available for development. We delivered a material that is clear, concise and easy to be used and updated by the customer. To obtain this result, the entire staff of the Consultancy Unit and experts from other units and departments worked together on this project," Forship Group Technical Consultancy Vice President Antonio Prates said.

The document will provide valuable information to IBP members for the management and execution of their regulatory processes, thereby reducing risk and optimizing time and costs.

"This contract will extend the reach of Forship's regulatory consulting services to the entire Oil & Gas production chain in Brazil. The manual will also open prospects for other contracts, not only with IBP, but also with potential domestic and international customers," said Antonio.
